With Summer just around the corner, we love watching sports movies to get ourselves pumped for sunny weather and the chance to play ball! There are many sports movies to choose from, but we wanted to make a list of some of our favorites for families.   1. The Mighty Ducks (1992) PG

The Mighty Ducks is the first installment of three and is easily a modern classic in sports films. The movie stars Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay, a young and down-on-his-luck lawyer, who coaches little league hockey team the Ducks against all odds to join the playoffs with their rivals – The Hawks. Can Coach Bombay fly the Ducks to victory?

  1. Little Giants (1994) PG

After former Heisman Trophy winner Kevin O’Shea (Ed O’Neill) heads his local Pop Warner football team the “Pee-Wee Cowboys, his geeky younger brother Danny O’Shea (Rick Moranis) sympathizes with the kids who didn’t get picked to form the “Little Giants”. This leads to a sparking of their old sibling rivalry as the Little Giants climbing up the league in a hilarious underdog story, taking the field against O’Shea’s Pee-Wee Cowboys and star player, Spike Hammersmith.

Swackhammer, owner of the amusement park planet Moron Mountain, sets his sights on capturing the Looney Tunes for his latest attraction. He sends his tiny alien minions to Earth to kidnap the Looney Tunes, but instead find themselves challenged to a game of basketball. When the aliens steal the talent of real NBA all-stars and turn into the gigantic Monstars, it’s up to Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Michael Jordan to lead to Tune Squads in an all-or-nothing basketball game.

Based on the true story of the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placed. Kurt Russell stars as U.S. hockey coach Herb Brooks, who must lead a team an inexperienced U.S. team to victory against the undefeated Soviet hockey team. The 1980 Winter Olympics acts as the grand stage for the events of the Cold War, creating hardship and struggle for the U.S. team as the underdogs.

  1. The Sandlot (1993) PG

As the new kid in town, Scotty Smalls wants to make friends and learn how to play baseball from the neighborhood legend Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez. One game, Scotty gets The Sandlot Boys in trouble as he hits a baseball signed by Babe Ruth into the backyard of the Beast. It is up to Scotty and The Sandlot Boys to get the ball back from the Best and become local heroes!
