Education Outside the Classroom

As a history teacher for over 20 years, Earline’s love for history is contagious. Her passion has encouraged her to take her students on historical trips for the past 18 years. Each year she has recruited students for Washington DC, Williamsburg, Jamestown, as well as New York tours.

It has been very rewarding for Earline to see the excitement on her students’ faces, while touring places such as the nation’s capital, Arlington National Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, and the Smithsonian Museums. The highlight of her teaching career was witnessing President Obama’s and former President Bush’s inauguration with her students.

“The parents truly appreciate how the fundraising profits help defray the spending fund costs”, says Earline, “I provide a sendoff party for all of my travelers, and at that time, I hand over an envelope to each participant with the 50% of what they raised. “
